ANNUAL REPORT 2017 – 2018
INTRODUCTION:
I am much obliged to submit this our progress 24th Annual
Report for the Financial year 2017 – 2018
before this committee and I will remember the staffs, Volunteers and the
Trainees spontaneous service. And at the same time I remember the members with
gratitude who have supported during the time of financial crisis. I feel happy
that SPHEED have crossed over the days and we are fully concentrating and this
improvement of our services. In this financial year we dwelt and implement the
felt need demand and development of the rural villages by the programme as
follows:
NON
FORMAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME:
We
are running 2 non formal education centers in 2 remote villages namely Vasur
and 99 Pudupalayam in Polur Taluk, Tiruvannamalai District , with the support
of GLOBAL GIVING UK . This programe is
conducted to educate and revise the lessons of the school syllabus of the
school going quarry workers’ children. Through this centers we provide primary
education and vocational skills to the quarry workers’ children. Through this
NFE centers 75 quarry workers’ children benefitted. The children also have been
trained and practices indoor and outdoor games like Chess, Football, and
Cricket. Moreover in these classes the competitions on essay writing, drawing
and Yoga were conducted and the children
have been distributed with certificates
and prizes. The parents of the children were acquired Health Check-up
and treatment. For each village one
Teacher totally two Graduate Teachers within the villages have taken tuition
and lesson classes to the children attended in the centers. Further .

SHG FORMATION PROGRAMME:
More than 10 new SHGs have been
formed in this financial year 2017-18 among youth and rural women in three blocks viz., Kalasapakkam, Polur and
Jawadhu hills Our staff team visited the villages in these three blocks and
organized these women and youth Self-Help Groups and provided trainings on
group forming, meetings to be conducted and maintenance of accounts and
resolution writing in records.
SHG TRAINING:
We
conducted this training programme to equip the personality and leadership
qualities of SHG leaders. The officers from nationalized banks, Leading NGO
representative from RMK, NMDFC, and block development officer, Mahalir Thittam
provided training on keeping the books and ledger, loan disbursement and
recovery of loan, project management, auditing, accounting and reporting
through this programme. More than 20 SHG’s leaders were benefited from
Kalasapalkkam block of Polur Taluk.
Care
for children Programme:
In two villages namely
Turinjikuppam of Jamunamarathur Block
and Kuppanatham of Chengam Taluk.
this programme has been conducted. More than 100 children were benefitted through
this programme. The Training to conduct the Children’s Parliament. This
programme has been provided the health assistance like BCG vaccination, polio
drops and other disease control ailments. The Siddha Dr. Kailasam B.S.M.S
of Mottur and Dr.Ashok, M.B.B.S., of Tiruvannamalai
have provided health check-up to
children.
INCOME
GENERATION PROGRAMME:
SPHEED NGO organizing in
order to encourage the unemployed youth
and women, we started income generation programme by providing training
and seed mone to the deprived class
youth and women. The wax candle production, pappads and pickles making, scented
bathis production have been encouraged in this programme.

to destitute widows.
GLOBAL WARMING AWARENESS:
Deforestation,
cutting of trees in the lands were degraded the environment and factories’
smokes causes the Global warming which makes the earth very hot and dry. The
atmosphere of the earth becomes heat and hot. The bio-diversity conservation in
the earth decreases.
Hence this
awareness programme has been conducted in two villages namely Kadaladi and Kizhpalur.
More than 500 participants attended this awareness programme and acquired the
knowledge about the Global warming and its impacts in the earth and atmosphere.
The resources persons Mr.V. Mani and the Forest Ranger Mr. Alavudaiyan have
lectured in this programme. The participants have taken an oath to act to stop
and decrease the Global warming.
NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS CAMP:
SPHEED and C.P.Ramasamy Iyer
Foundation Chennai have organized two days Environment Awareness Campaign on 10rd to 11th of February , 2017 at
Thurinjikuppam, Mottur and Thottimadur of Javadhu hills. In awareness progamme hand
bills and display cards were distributed among the camp participants. Women 350 SHG’s members and 500 small and marginal farmers were
attended. This programme was focused on Combating dessertification,drought and
land degradation. An action programme by digging water shed tanks and
preparation of organic manure and
natural pesticides have been
demonstrated. The adoption of using
oranic farming in agriculture were stressed in the programe. Recycling
the waste and vermin compost production was demonstrated in the programme. The
Forester Mr.Kanapathi , Mr.Ellappan , Mr.A.Ramadoss , Mr.P.Ramesh was invited as faculties of the
programme.
HEALTH CAMP PROGRAMME:
This year we conducted free medical
camp to our cluster head village kilaiyur and oorekavundanoor. There are nearly 380 participants attended
and benefitted. The school children, adolescents and old age persons have attended
and benefitted. We supplied vitamin tablets to the children, and conducted well
baby competition in this camp and provided prizes and awards. The diabetics and blood
pressure check up has been conducted in these camps to the participants. The
local Primary Health centre staffs have conducted and gave guidance to the
beneficiaries.
SCHOOL
AND HOSTEL PROGRAMME :
SPHEED Organizing school and Hostel for the welfare of Tribal
Girl children . The first program is KASTHURIBAI GANDHI BALIGA VIDHYALAYA
RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL ( KGBVRS) in Perungulathur , Thandarampet , Tiruvannamalai District.
Totally 52 girl children were benefitted through this program . The second one
PENGAL VIDUTHI VALARCHI KUZHU ( RMSA GIRLS HOSTEL ) in Perunkattur village in
Jawaddu Hills. More than 102 Girl children were benefited through this program
. Totally 21 Staffs were working for this program . This program was supported by
Department of Education , Govt of Tamilnadu & Central govt of India,
CONCLUSION:
I
humbly submit my sincere thanks to all the beneficiaries, resource persons,
staff and well wishers extended their co-operation and financial support to
implement our programmes for the development of rural people. I submit this
Annual Report for financial year 2017-18 before all of you with a request to
approve this for future communication to our colleagues and funding partners
and to well wishers of our Society. Also I invite all of your kind co–operation
to achieve our future goals for the development of our target people of Polur,Kalasapakkam and Jamanamarathur block .
